A fire station in Baton Rouge has got a new home yesterday.

"Around the nation they are closing down fire stations and laying people off, and Baton Rouge, this is the 7th fire station in roughly 7-71/2 years," Mayor Kip Holden said at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Construction on the newest fire station on Choctaw is finally complete. This station replaces the old one that was more than 60 years old. It took three years to finish thanks to problems during construction.

This station is just one of several in the city to be built over the last few years.

The new station is almost double the size of the old facility and has several new features.
