BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Louisiana continues to grow, and baton rouge has proven that businesses want to come here.
In a recent report from Careerbuilder, Louisiana ranks 19th among U.S. states with new business growth.
The report is for the years 2009 to 2012, which were the first few years after the recession.
Recently, many small businesses have popped up around town.
One small business owner, Kim Matzko, says the reason she’s successful is because of the support from the community.
"We're bringing new things to the community. I mean I could not do this in New York or Los Angeles. We’re brining new and exciting things, and Baton Rouge people are proud,” said Matzko, who owns The Big Squeezy
Matzko also owns two yoga studios in town, which she says have also seen support over the years.
