First responders, troops to receive care packages from local organizations
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — First responders across the nation and overseas will soon be receiving care packages from the local United Way affiliate.
The organization teamed up with a local company, BASF, to put together care packages for our troops that are stationed overseas. They also had banners donated from local schools to give to our first responders in the Capital Area.
United Way officials say the response from the community has been wonderful and they're excited to get the boxes to the troops as soon as possible.
"We’re excited to have the banners and cards that are out for the community to sign,” stated Kendall Hebert with the United Way. “We are really grateful for the sacrifice that these first responders have (given) for our community and our country.”
The United Way and BASF are having a showing of the film "New York Says Thank You" tomorrow. For more information on that showing, click here.
