Baton Rouge has earned a bronze medal for being a bicycle-friendly community.

The award comes from the League of American Bicyclists, who interviewed local cyclists here about safety, and about what the city has to offer those on two-wheels.

The Capitol City keeps its bronze medal for four years.

After that time passes, the league will make another judgment if conditions have improved; if the city has made more of a commitment to cyclists, Baton Rouge could receive a gold or silver medal next time.
