BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Although Baton Rouge saw a small rise in gas prices last week, experts anticipate a drop next month.
“The best news for motorists is that June typically brings some relief at the pump compared to where prices peaked in May, so for many areas across the country, prices will likely continue to decline,” Patrick DeHaan, Senior Petroleum Analyst for GasBuddy.com, said.
In Baton Rouge, the average price per gallon went up about 3 cents last week to $3.31/g. The national average, however, dropped 2.3 cents to $3.65/g.
“Believe it or not, many areas saw gasoline prices declining ahead of the long weekend,” DeHaan said when discussing the typical trend of rising prices over Memorial Day weekend.
The rise is still better when compared to last year’s prices in Baton Rouge. On the same day one year ago, the price per gallon was 9 cents higher.
