Baton Rouge Fashion Week kicks off with model search

When you think of fashion, places like London, Paris, Milan come to mind, but what about Baton Rouge?

"Baton Rouge has the potential to make an impact in the fashion industry," said One of a Kind Baton Rouge Fashion Week Founder, Brandon D. Campbell.That's right, come February 10th, this group is turning the capital city into a fashion capital.

"it's basically a series of different fashion shows and events. We're really excited for it, and then, even more importantly, we're helping give back to the community," he added. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Louisiana Museum Foundation. But before you make it to the big stage, you've got to get past the first stage-The Model Search. We went behind the scenes, And these
model hopefuls are feeling "Really great and good, said Jay'lyn Chancellor.  "I feel good," added Sara Ellis. "I feel fabulous, flawless and amazing," smiled Alexius Brumfield. "It's kind of exhilirating," said Rolanda Lewis. The most i've done are selfies. selfies." Darien Guevara added, "I had no idea what i was doing." 

But this isn't your cookie-cutter open call. You'll see a lot of models, some who are very tall, medium-sized, short, we have plus sized models, you have kids. we want them all!" said Campbell.
And with businesses, designers and boutiques pitching in, the production hopes to bring baton Rouge together. "it's for a good cause, we're bringing people together, we're bringing communities together through fashion.
And for one model hopeful and mom, it's a family affair.
Brumfield said, "I'm going to bring Chase and Caleb and I can't wait to let them rock the runway.  Apparently he's going to be on Disney and make a lot of money, so this may be his shot."

And with a flash, a pivot, a turn, and some hard work, organizers hope that One of a Kind Baton Rouge Fashion Week will make waves.
"if you're here, you're a vip! Everyone is!," said Campbell.

The model search continues tomorrow and If modeling is not quite your forte, designers and local businesses can get involved too. The "Oneofakind Baton Rouge Fashion Week" Model Search will be held Friday, January 10 from 5-8 p.m., and Saturday, January 11 from 2-5 p.m. at Capitol Park Museum (a Louisiana State Museum), located at 660 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Models are to Wear a plain white T-shirt or tank top, jeans, no make-up, and no accessories.
