Roughly 400 new jobs with salaries averaging $68,000 to $78,000 per year are headed to Baton Rouge, according to Governor Bobby Jindal.

“This is a great win for the Baton Rouge area,” said President and CEO Adam Knapp of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.

CB&I announced on Monday, July 8 that the jobs will be relocated from out-of-state to the company’s Baton Rouge group. The company predicts that an additional 434 indirect jobs will also be created as a result of the additions. They estimate to create a $500 million impact to the Capital Region economy over the next 10 years.

“With more than 1,500 employees in Baton Rouge, CB&I already has a major presence in Louisiana,” said Chip Ray, president of CB&I’s Government Solutions operating group.

“Strengthening Government Solutions’ workforce in Baton Rouge allows us to create a more dynamic and competitive organization and offer new and exciting career paths for our employees. We believe Louisiana offers an exceptional business environment to further develop our business function professionals and engineers who manage projects throughout the world. CB&I is an energy infrastructure-focused company that provides a wide range of services. The 400 new jobs will cover a diverse set of corporate functions, such as health, safety and environment, engineering and procurement.

“We are thrilled to have CB&I deepen its commitment to Baton Rouge by centralizing more of their operations here,” said Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden. “Our area has the potential to lead the country in growth, especially with companies that specialize in world-class engineering, fabrication and construction. Today's announcement is proof that CB&I is not only here to stay, but here to grow, and that Baton Rouge is a fantastic place to do business.”
