As a part of many beautification projects around the Lafayette-area, the horse farm received 200 Live Oak and Cypress trees this afternoon.

With the help of the Boy Scouts of Louisiana and volunteers 80 Cypress and 120 Live Oak trees just over a year old will be planted at the horse farm as a donation from Resource Environmental Solutions, a national ecological restoration company based in Baton Rouge. This donation is part of a statewide donation of 25,000 live oak trees across 55 Louisiana parishes.

“It’s very rare when you can find over a hundred acres right in the middle of a city of just pristine area, and I think it could use a few more trees," Elliot Bouillion, Chief Executive Office of R.E.S., said. "I think it will be a place for community gathering, it will be a place for people to share and live and what better to sit under a tree and do that."

Bouillion says this is his way to give back to the community that gave him so much.

RES has planted over five million trees in Louisiana as part of ecological restoration efforts throughout the state on 22,000 acres of restored native habitat. Bouillion is eager for the trees to be planted, and to watch them grow.
