BATON ROUGE (NBC33) - Saturday high schoolers from all over Baton Rouge got together with other Non- Profit organizations to clean up the LSU lakes.

It's part of Global Youth Service Day, a country wide initiative by the City Year youth service organization to help surrounding communities.

High school students from all over the capitol city cleaned the shoreline, and some got out in kayaks to help with trash floating in the lake.

Project leader Claude Nall says he's glad the younger generation is stepping up.

"I'm enthused about this, these kids are motivated, they're enthused, they're concerned. And all of them that I've talked to this morning are very happy to be here, it's not an obligation, it's an opportunity for them." said Nall
