George Rodrigue spends time and funds with local kids

BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) -- A big time artist made a stop in the Capitol City with thousands of dollars in donations.

George Rodrigue donated $2,000 worth of paint kits to Dufrocq Elementary. They're for the school's art program. The donation is designed to supply the school's art program for an entire year.

Rodrigue spent time drawing his blue dog with the kids. Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden also sitting down with the artist to give things a try.

Both the artist and the Mayor say art is a great way to keep kids from going down the wrong path.
