The national average has increase almost a full dollar since the beginning of the year. For the first time since January, a little relief from the pain at the pump.

According to GasBuddy.com, here in Baton Rouge prices dropped almost ten cents last week, which is much needed relief for many residents.

President of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Administration, Don Briggs, told NBC33 News that the drop is likely due to a reduction in motorists on the roadway. He also says that while prices are estimated to continue to drop a bit over the course of the next month, he does not, however, think we will see prices go below $3.50 a gallon for some time.

We’re also told that the rising river levels should not be cause a gas price increase. That’s because no refineries are located in the flood zone. Some production, however, is located in the Atchafalaya Basin, but Briggs does not anticipate that to cause a spike.
