OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - St. Landry Parish school officials increased security after 10 North Central High School students were arrested late last week for fighting on campus.
The students, four of whom were 17 or older and therefore considered adults under the law, were charged with disturbing the peace by fighting.
Superintendent Michael Nassif spent Friday at North Central, sorting out details and making sure School Board policies were being followed.
The students involved in the fight were under suspension Friday.
Nassif said no one was seriously hurt in the altercation.
The fight apparently was the result of a disagreement among the
students that had been developing over time.
