BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: According to East Baton Rouge School Board President Barbara Breiberg, three new candidates for superintendent could head to the school board for review later this week.
A national search ended last month after the only remaining superintendent candidate, Samuel King, withdrew his name from consideration.
As of right now, Dr. Carlos Sam is the interim superintendent.
ORIGINAL STORY (2/24/12): Superintendent John Dilworth left back on February 24 due to health issues.
The East Baton Rouge school system says goodbye to their superintendent of two and a half years. It's John Dilworth's last day on the job. He's headed home to Montgomery to take care of some health issues.
Barbara Freiberg, the president of the East Baton Rouge School Board, says she appreicates Dilworth's service to the school system. She and the rest of the board members are saddened that he was not able to stay on until June 30th.
Carlos Sam will replace Dilworth as the interim superintendent. Freiberg says he has already started tackling some of the big issues facing EBR Schools.
