The East Baton Rouge Parish School System will be holding two high school summer enrichment programs this year for public or private students at that level. The classes are designed to assist students who are failing or falling behind in courses to catch up on studies and pass the necessary courses to move on to the next grade level. All sessions and courses will be held at McKinley High School.

During the first session, Mondays through Thursdays May 30-June 25, the schedule for new work (only English IV seniors) is 7:25 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with one 10-minute break and one 20-minute lunch. The maximum number of courses is one per person at a half-credit each. The second session for new work will run on the same schedule July 3-July 30 with the same maximum coursework limitations per student. The cost per session is $225 for new work.

New work sessions are offered to seniors only in English IV. Registration for both summer semesters can be completed 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday, May 29, of for the second semester only 8 a.m.-noon Monday, July 2, at McKinley High School. A fee of $25 will be charged for late registration per session, and late fees are non-refundable. Other fees only are refundable if requested within five days of the start of each summer school session. Lunch is served from 11:20-1:40 a.m. on program days.

Repeat work students (those who have previously failed a course) have a different schedule. The first and second sessions run 7:25-11:20 a.m. for the first period and 11:45 a.m.-3:40 p.m. for the second period with 10-minute breaks in each period Mondays through Thursdays. The first session is May 30-June 25, and the second session is July 3-30. The fee is $150 per course, per session. The maximum number of repeat work sessions a student may take per session is two for 1 credit total each time.

Repeat courses offered include: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, LEAP21 Math, Remediation-High School, English I, English II, English III, English IV, LEAP 21 ELA Remediation-High School, Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science, American History, Free Enterprise, Civics and World Geography.
