BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — The Southern University Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote tomorrow on whether or not the school should declare a financial emergency.
The faculty senate must get 90 percent of the school's professors to agree to 10 percent in furloughs for two years to avoid the critical situation.
Students are afraid for the future of their school if the board votes in favor of financial exigency.
"I really hope my university is still here when I graduate,” Kayla Dunbar, a student at Southern University, said. “I plan on graduating in the summer, and I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to give back because my school may not be here."
This is the third time the Board of Supervisors is meeting for the vote.
