Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — At the Mall of Louisiana Saturday, teachers, parents, and even local celebrities teamed up for Read Across Louisiana.
This event is going on in six malls across the state. It's a big push to get parents and their children to read.
The LAE says it's important that kids start reading at a young age, that way, reading and writing will be much easier for them later on.
That's why they invited NBC33's own Tammi Arender to read at the mall Saturday.
"We want everyone to think about it like this, you're never too old, too wacky, or too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child," said Joyce Haynes, President of Louisiana Association of Teachers.
