The Academic Distinction Fund presents it's distinguished speakers series. They invite you to their 'Parental Involvement at School and Home' lecture.

The lecture will feature Dr. Karen L. Mapp who is a noted lecturer on education and faculty director of education policy and management at Harvard's University Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Mapp will provide information and strategies to create and sustain systemic school, family and community partnerships that support student learning and achievement. Participants will learn the current research about the link between these partnerships and student outcomes based on Dr. Mapp’s research. She will focus her presentation on three areas: the link between family and community engagement and student achievement and school improvement; the characteristics of school, family and community engagement initiatives that translate to improved student outcomes; and the answers to cultivating trusting and respectful partnerships that support student learning and school improvement with diverse families and community members.
 

It will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at East Baton Rouge Parish School System Instructional Resource Center. Registration and a continental breakfast will be from 8:30 - 9:15 a.m. and the program will be from 9:15 - 11:00 a.m.

The event is free to the community.
