Parent Center to offer assistance to those in Recovery School Districts

BATON ROUGE, LA — To continue providing the best services for parents and families in the Baton Rouge area, today the Recovery School District (RSD) announced the opening of a Parent Center for all seven Baton Rouge Achievement schools. The Parent Center will provide critical services to parents and families in answering school-related questions and assisting in the overall enrollment process.
"We are excited to open this Parent Center and provide an opportunity to continue meeting the needs of our students, parents and families," said RSD Superintendent Patrick Dobard. "We are looking forward to using the Parent Center as a vehicle to engage our parents and to make certain we are communicating with them and providing the information they need to ensure the academic success of their children."
The RSD Parent Center will be located at Lanier Elementary School, 4705 Lanier Dr., and will serve as a central location for parents and family members to receive the support and services they need to develop sustaining relationships with schools.
The Parent Center will be open Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will have trained staff who will provide assistance for parents and families throughout the student enrollment process, along with providing information related to any specific school inquiries. Visitors will also have access to computer services in addition to other programs that will be offered throughout the year, including financial literacy classes and computer training classes.
Parents will also have an opportunity to meet the principals who will lead the Achievement Zone schools this fall during scheduled "Meet the Principal" events that will be held throughout the month of June and early July.

Monday, June 25, 6 p.m. - Glen Oaks Middle School, S.E. Mackey Center, 6534 Ford St., Staughton Jennings, principal
Tuesday, June 26, 6 p.m. - Lanier Elementary School, Gloryland Baptist Church, 2575 Michelli Dr., Alicia Franklin, principal
Thursday, June 28, 6 p.m. - Capitol High School, 1000 N. 23rd St.
Tuesday, July 3, 6 p.m. - Crestworth Learning Academy, 10650 Ave. F
Through the Baton Rouge Achievement Zone, the RSD is focused on significantly impacting and turning around student learning and achievement for 10,000 students located in a contiguous three zip code area of North Baton Rouge.
The seven schools participating in the RSD Achievement Zone are Istrouma High, Capitol High, Prescott Middle, Glen Oaks Middle, Crestworth Academy, Dalton Elementary, and Lanier Elementary.
