Central, La (NBC33) — New State Superintendent of Schools John White took a tour of several local schools today, one of which was Tanglewood Elementary School in Central.
He spoke with teachers, principals and students. It was all part of his effort to meet the people at the frontline of education in Louisiana.
There was one main thing he took away from his visit.
"In the classroom the question is, ‘Do you have high expectations for kids?’ If you have a great teacher, then the kids are going to do great things, and kids will learn.,” stated White. “Kids will achieve if we have high expectations for them."
Tomorrow, he will continue his tour with a trip to a school in Houma.
