BATON ROUGE, LA — Southern University announced today the election of Erin Rogers as the new Miss Southern University 2012-13 and Willie McCorkle as the 2012-13 Student Government Association president.

Elections were held recently on the Baton Rouge campus.

Rogers, a native of New Orleans and graduate of Xavier University Prep, is a senior biology major with minors in chemistry and Spanish. Rogers, 21, succeeds Baton Rouge native Chisolu Isiadinsu.

McCorkle, also a New Orleans native, is a graduate of McDonogh 35 High School. The 20-year-old junior is a mass communications major with a concentration in public relations. McCorkle succeeds two-term SGA President Demetrius Sumner from Dallas.
