Baton Rouge, La — LSU's six-year graduation rate has increased to an all-time high of 66.7 percent, according to the LSU Office of Budget and Planning.
This mark surpasses the average of LSU's peers in the latest Southern Regional Education Board, or SREB report.
Should LSU maintain that position when the SREB report is issued that calculates the same cohort reflected in LSU's new mark, it will be the first time in the history of that LSU's graduation rate is higher than the average of our SREB peers.
LSU's graduation rate has nearly doubled over the past 20 years. In 1993, the university's graduation rate was 39.4 percent for freshmen who entered in 1987. New freshmen who entered the university in 2006 represent this year’s graduation rate of 66.7 percent.
This year's mark is a jump of nearly 5 percent from last year's reported graduation rate of 61.9 percent, marking five years in a row that LSU has reported a graduation rate of more than 60 percent.
