Baton Rouge, La — Beginning next spring, students of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business will have the opportunity to take part in a life-altering learning experience. The college has announced a new partnership with Hong Kong Polytechnic University that will allow students the chance to earn course credit while immersed in the business operations of an emerging market.
According to E. J. Ourso College Dean Richard D. White Jr., the partnership is aimed at more fully developing the college’s globalization growth initiative.
“This will truly provide a cultural and career-building encounter unlike any our students have had before,” White said.
“The program will be offered every year during the spring semester and is ideal for students in their junior year.”
White stated that Hong Kong Polytechnic is fully accredited, and students will be able to choose from a wide range of courses in accounting, finance, management, marketing, supply chain management, electives and even foreign language. Classes will be taught in English, and it is feasible that students will be able to land internships with multinational corporations.
“This exchange program is an investment, one that students will reap the benefits of when they return to LSU and for years to come in their chosen professions,” White said. “Earlier this month, we sent (Assistant Dean for Academic Programs) Ashley Junek and (Emerging Markets Initiative Director) Ye-Sho Chen to Hong Kong Polytechnic to finalize last-minute details. Everything is in place and ready to go.”
To participate in the exchange program, students must have a 3.0 overall grade point average. They are still responsible for their LSU tuition and other fees. TOPS and other financial aid may be used to offset the cost of tuition, and the college is offering scholarships of up to $4,000 as well. Students will not pay any tuition or fees at Hong Kong Polytechnic. They will pay room and board to Hong Kong Polytechnic. Monthly costs, including accommodations, food and miscellaneous expenses are estimated to be $526.
The deadline to apply for the semester in Hong Kong program is Aug. 26, 2013. For more information, contact Junek at firstname.lastname@example.org or 225-578-3211.
