BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — When it comes to the quality of our state's teachers, Louisiana gets a “C-“.
The National Council on Teacher Quality released a report saying the state doesn't do much to keep good teachers and gets rid of ineffective ones.
This comes as Governor Bobby Jindal tries to make some big changes to education. His new reform plan is focusing on rewarding those teachers who show good results.
"The only people who have to fear from our proposal reforms when it comes to tenure are ineffective teachers who don't want to improve," sated Jindal.
Jindal says the bar should be set high to become a tenured teacher.
He thinks educators should be rated highly effective five years in a row before they reach that status.
