BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Department of Education Released their version of report cards for schools today and almost half of Louisiana schools received a failing grade.
According to that report 44 percent of school's received a "D" or "F". That’s under the new letter-grade evaluation system.
The department of educations says the letter grade makes things easier for parents and teachers to understand how their school is doing.
The new system comes after the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved the new system late last year. Schools can get up to 200 points. Any school that scores below a 75 is failing. Under the old system, the failing score was 90.
As a result more than 150 schools across the state that had a "D", now have an "F".
