Kenilworth gains mini-grant from NASA for science club
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Kenilworth Science and Technology Center is going to be getting some help with science experiments. The school got a $1,500 grant from NASA!
The grant will help students who are part of the schools Science Demo Club, which meets after school. It's part of the NASA Summer of Innovation mini-grant program, and the teachers at Kenilworth tell us the projects’ funded by the grant will help inspire their students.
"It was a mini grant that they provided us with and that grant helps us out to incorporate science into our curriculum,” Elkahan Akhundor, Science teacher at Kenilworth, said. “The extra-curricular activity, we have - Science Demo Club after school - we're not just focusing on the fun part of it, and it's really fun thing some science content behind it."
School officials tell us they're already putting the grant funds to use.
