Governor Bobby Jindal visited students at Assumption High School in Napoleonville today.

The school was recognized as one of the state’s 50 high-priority schools with students not performing to satisfaction and a high dropout rate.

With the help of the community, the school has turned it around, improving its graduation rate 16 percent.

Governor Jindal says that getting Louisiana's students back on track is critical for improving the state.

"I've said all along that our top priority for this year is improving education for all our students,” stated Jindal. “It's so important to continue to improve our quality of life and to continue to grow our economy more quickly than the southern national average. "

Assumption High School improved its program by adding career training classes, targeting at risk students before they drop out, and offers accelerated classes to help get students on grade level.
