When Istrouma High school reopens later this year they'll be part of the Recovery School District.

Yesterday was the final day for Istrouma as a part of the East Baton Rouge school system. It was taken over by the RSD earlier this year.

Officials with the Recovery School District tell NBC33 some of the changes will include transferring Prescott Middle School to the Istrouma campus for next year.

Other area schools being taken over by the RSD include Capitol High School, Prescott and Glen Oaks Middle, Dalton and Lanier Elementary.

Capitol High did not work as an RSD charter. They shipped their low functioning kids to Tara right before testing time so they would not be responsible for their test scores. Now they want to do the same thing to Istrouma. The RSD does not work. Charters run by groups that are not teachers does not work. They need to give the schools back to the Board, hire only teachers with education degrees, give them control of the schools and show them respect. That would work.
