BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Governor Bobby Jindal spoke today in front of the House Education Committee today, Wednesday, March 14.
He made it known that the proposals he's backing are necessary to fix the state's educational issues. The bills he supports include a school voucher program and stricter standards for teacher tenure. These are changes he believes are needed to keep Louisiana's economy thriving.
"If you want to continue to outperform the national and southern economies we've cut taxes,” Governor Jindal, said. “We've revamped ethics. Education has to be, has to be our top priority in terms of moving the state forward."
State Superintendent John White also spoke in support of the legislation.
