Georgia Gulf Corporation (GGC) made a generous donation to River Parishes Community College on Thursday, June 14.

GGC donated $3,000, which will fund six $500 scholarships for process technology students at River Parishes Community College. The scholarships are open to all process technology students with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or better and 30 or more hours completed in the process technology program.

River Parishes Community College’s process technology technician program is a two-year program in which students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree. This program prepares students for employment as plant operators.

On hand to present the check to Dr. Joe Ben Welch, RPCC Chancellor, were Mr. Charles “Charlie” Freeburgh and Mr. Tory Landry. Mr. Freeburgh is the Vice President of Environmental Safety and Security for Georgia Gulf Corporation and serves on the River Parishes Community College Foundation Board. Mr. Landry is a Human Resources Partner at GGC’s plant in Plaquemine, La.
