BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The first day of what's expected to be three days of testimony over Governor Jindal's educational voucher program has wrapped up.
At issue - whether the voucher program passed by the state legislature is even constitutional.
The Louisiana Association of Educators says that it's not constitutional, and they spent part of the day trying to convince the judge of that today.
They group told NBC33 today that their message is pretty simple.
“We really want a great public school for every child and until they put that in mind, they need to know that vouchers will not improve education,” stated a representative of the LAE. “It will not improve student achievement. Mainly, the discussion for us is we don't want to see the administration do something that is unconstitutional.”
