BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — School officials from across the state came together yesterday to discuss the future of safety in Louisiana schools, and here at home, the concern is just as great.
The East Baton Rouge School District already has laws regarding safety, but now, the main concern is how to expand on them.
Newly-inducted Baton Rouge School Board President David Tatman says there are many ideas in discussion that will help with safety. He believes that the learning environment should be the safest place.
“We want to work, and not recreate the wheel, but find out what other districts are doing across the state and across the country, and implement those (plans) in our own district," stated Tatman.
The new BRSB President said will do what he can to help the community have more security in the East Baton Rouge school system.
The goal of the discussion yesterday was to improve existing school safety laws in the next legislative session.
