BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Officials with the Department of Education say they are still seeing interest in the Course Choice program.
The program allows students in C, D, and F-ranked schools to take certain classes online or through a remedial class room.
Superintendent John White says it's just another way to help meet different needs of students.
"We've got to be able to address their interests rather than just treating everyone like a widget on a factory line,” stated White. “That's what parents want for their kids. They want their kids to be engaged, motivated and happy, and Course Choice does that."
Some of the most popular classes are language courses.
DOE was able to expand the program to include those students on the wait list earlier this month.
Registration for Course Choice ends on August 27.
