Kids now have a new and fun place to learn.

The latest Children's Garden opened today at the Burden Center in Baton Rouge.

The garden is made out of recyclable materials. A wide variety of plants from marigolds to grapefruits are grown in the garden.

The garden is about more than fruits and vegetables though, it's about giving kids a fun place to learn.

"When they're in the classroom behind the desk filling out a worksheet, that's ok,” said Kathryn Fontenot with the LSU AG Center. “But if they're out here measuring beds, counting plants and figuring out if the volumes correct, that kind of thing, they're excited and they're working with their classmates."

There are more than 215 gardens like this across Louisiana.
