A controversial bill that would delay the start of teacher evaluations died in the Senate Education Committee.

The proposed law would use this first year of evaluations as data only.

Even though the bill died, both teachers and education reform advocates support the measure, and the Jindal administration says it's even okay with it.

There's talk that the measure could come up as an amendment to a separate bill that is still alive before the end of legislative session.
