BESE rep to hold community forum on potential impact of HB 1177
BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — Carolyn Hill, a Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education representative, will hold a public forum on the potential impact that House Bill 1177 could have on public schools in East Baton Rouge Parish.
HB 1177 would give school principals the added responsibility of handling food service, transportation, security, facilities support, budgeting and contracting. These duties would be added to the principals’ primary job of overseeing student academic achievement.
Currently, the district’s Central Office manages the operations listed in HB 1177.
The forum will take place at Capitol Middle School (5100 Greenwell Springs Road) on Tuesday, April 22, at 6:00 p.m.
Parents, students, and community members are invited to the forum to give their input on HB 1177 and its potential impact on public education in EBR.
