During a special Board meeting held this evening, members of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board voted to offer the position of Superintendent of the East Baton Rouge School System (EBRPSS) to Dr. Bernard Taylor. Board President Barbara Freiberg called Dr. Taylor shortly after the vote to congratulate him on his selection.

During the regular meeting of the School Board held March 15, two finalists were announced for the position. Dr. Maria Pitre-Marin and Dr. Taylor both were invited by the School Board to interview on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 20 and 21, respectively. Those interviews included an intense day of public and community meetings and interviews.

Dr. Taylor previously served as superintendent of Public Schools in Kansas City and most recently in Grand Rapids, Mich. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Secondary Education. He also has a master’s degree in Public Administration and a Doctor of Education degree, all from the University of Pittsburgh.
