Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Volunteers from BASF in Geismer brought science to life in the classrooms of St. George School.
It's all part of the Kids' Lab program. Students from kindergarten all the way through eighth grade spent the day doing hands on chemistry experiments.
Kids learned from how to purify water to how polymers work.
The goal is to get kids to love learning, especially science.
“It definitely increases the retention level, so that the students can recall information that was taught to them in previous years when they're introduced to new content,” said St. George Principal Lizette Leader.
“Our hope is that enthusiasm will carry on year after year,” stated BASF Vice President Tom Yura Sr. “We really want kids to go ahead and explore education in the sciences.”
More than 500 students and volunteers took part in today's event.
