We are right in the middle of ‘Arts in Education’ week. NBC33 spent some time at one school in Baton Rouge that takes arts to the extreme, year round.

Forest Heights Magnet Elementary school uses music, painting, dancing, singing, acting - all of the arts to help their students learn everyday.

Fourth grader Isiah Sam tell us, getting into the arts groove, helps him stay focused.

"Whenever we are sitting in the classroom and its so boring our brains, like, don't react well and whenever we come here and move around, it's easier to learn," says Sam.

Forest Heights recently received the John F Kennedy award for arts in education. They are one of just four schools in the entire country, to be chosen for that award.
