The application process for Pre-K classes that start in the fall of 2014 begins Monday, Jan. 27. The process will continue through Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

Once parents submit a completed application, a Pre-K teacher at the parent’s school of choice will implement a screening process to assess applicants on the basis of academic need and available space.

Pre-K is free for those families who qualify for the federal government’s free and reduced meals program. Other families may be charged on a sliding scale based on income.

To be eligible, students must reside within EBRP School System boundaries and be four years old on or before September 30, 2014.

Parents can learn more about the Pre-K program and application process at either of the following showcase events:

Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cortana Mall, 9401 Cortana Place, Baton Rouge, LA 70815

Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Woodlawn Middle School, 14939 Tiger Bend Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70817
