EBRSO arrests two teens for making threats on social media

(NBC33) — Two students from Westdale Middle School have been arrested for making threats of a schools shooting on a social media website.
Officials with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office say they received a call on April 16 that a 15-year-old eighth grade student allegedly made a threat on the social media website Instagram, of a shooting at Westlake that would happen on April 17.
EBRSO received another call on the morning of April 17 about a 14-year-old eight grader posted a threat of a shooting at the school, on the same day.
Deputies with the School Drug Task Force arrested both students at the school in the 5600 block of Claycut Road, on the morning of April 17.
Officials said neither student had any weapons at the time of their arrest.
The 15-year-old student told deputies that they made the post as a joke, and the 14-year-old student gave no reason for their threat.
Both students have been charged with Terrorizing and were booked into juvenile detention.
