BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — A recent state audit reveals the East Baton Rouge Parish School System needs to improve its record-keeping.
The audit stems from an internal investigation of procedures that began back in January. Graduation records throughout the district were audited.
Results showed quote "inappropriate action taken by leadership" *and* “major errors in student transcripts.”
EBR superintendent Dr. Bernard Taylor tells us he believes some of the findings are inaccurate, but they are working to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"In the end where we ended to make corrections were going to, those people who have practices we will use them to teach and what we’re going to do is monitor this to the fullest extent possible so nothing like this happens in the future," Taylor said.
Taylor also says an exit interview was not done for this particular audit, which would have given the system an opportunity to respond to the findings. The school district has until April fourth to come up with a plan.
