BATON ROUGE, La (Big Buddy) -- What if even a fraction of the billions of dollars generated by online shoppers this holiday season was directed toward a better and safer Baton Rouge by making a difference in the lives our children?
Big Buddy has teamed up with GoodShop.com to do just that!
“Every penny counts”, says Big Buddy Executive Director Gaylynne Mack. “If it doesn’t cost you anything, why not raise money for Big Buddy? There is absolutely no reason not to use GoodShop.com when shopping on line this holiday season.” It's so easy, just go to GoodShop.com, choose Big Buddy as your designated charity and start shopping at any of the more than 1,600 participating retailers. Participating retailers include Amazon, Target, Apple, Macy’s, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Avon, Barnes & Noble, Banana Republic, Overstock.com, QVC, Toys R Us, and many more. By going through GoodShop.com, up to 30% of the purchase price is donated the user’s favorite cause! And, it doesn’t cost the user a thing!
It’s a form of philanthropy that works for everyone in this tough economy!
Big Buddy plans on using the money raised from this program to continue the Big Buddy mission of providing positive role models and quality learning experiences for the underserved children of Baton Rouge.
More than 94,000 nonprofits and schools are now registered with GoodShop and more than 100 organizations are registering daily. GoodShop has quickly spread via word-of-mouth and the blogger community. Examples of other organizations listed on the site include: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation which has earned nearly $15,000; the ASPCA which has raised more than $35,000; and The National Inclusion Project which supports children with disabilities and has earned more than $14,000.
“We know there are a lot of people who want to do good but may not have the time or the money to help out.” said Ken Ramberg, Co-Founder of GoodSearch and former President of JOBTRAK, the largest online career site for college students (now a division of Monster.com). “GoodShop makes it as easy as possible. We’ve taken something people do every day -- shopping online -- and have turned it into doing good."
