Neither President Obama nor Mitt Romney are likely to visit Louisiana before Election Day. But they are not the only candidates on the ballot, and their competition visited town.

Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson spoke at LSU's Union Theater Friday evening.

People came from as far as New Orleans to hear him speak. Some of his supporters said they were originally for Ron Paul, but Johnson represents some of the same values.

"I really don't identify with the positions of the other two candidates as much," said David Ambrogio, a junior. "And I just see Governor Johnson as being consistent and being pro-freedom, which I really like."

Johnson, the former governor of New Mexico, is running on a platform of bringing troops home from the Middle East, shutting down the Federal Reserve, and legalizing marijuana.

Johnson entered the presidential race in 2011 as a Republican before accepting the Libertarian nomination.

He is on the ballot in at least 48 states. It will be a very different world if he wins,if enough of us vote for him. No more income tax, corporate tax or capital gains tax. Instead a consumption tax of 23%. Cuts in entitlements of 43% so no more borrowing and no more deficits. Balanced budgets.

As a supporter of Johnson, I contributed to get him on TV as promised by the campaign. Yet they have raised over $2 M and its all going into the hands of campaign manager, Ron Nielson. You can search the Federal filings yourself here http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/candcmte_info.shtml
