The candidates trying to be the Republican nominee for president meet tonight in Florida for a debate you'll see right here on NBC33.

We hit the streets today in Baton Rouge to get your thoughts on presidential race at this point.

Debbie Teegarden says, “I think there's too much mudslinging and they need to focus more on the issues that are affecting the American people.”

Cindy Carrington states, “I hope Louisiana plays a big part of it, and I plan to keep closer tabs as it gets closer to home.”

“It’s so back and forth that you're relying on one guy coming through to you, then there’s some more mud brought up about him,” says Kenneth Aemmer. “Then, you hold back and have second thoughts.”

Jennifer Bidrite is waiting on a strong candidate to come through, “Right now, I don't really think there is a very strong candidate. I think we’ve got a lot of work to do.”

NBC’s Brian Williams and the candidates are in Florida gearing up for next weeks' primary, and as the Louisiana primary draws closer, tonight's your chance to get caught up with all their views on the issues.

That debate airs on NBC33 at 8:00 p.m. tonight.
