Images of oil spreading across the Gulf waters and covering wildlife are now burned into minds across the world. Now a new photography movement called Sp[oil]ed is covering real people with fake oil to raise money for the coast.
Sp[oil]ed was founded by two photographers from New Orleans as a way of raising money for Gulf Coast relief funds. In Baton Rouge, Paris Parker Salon on Highland Road has joined the movement by hosting local events.
Tonight at Red Star Bar in downtown Baton Rouge, they’re brining you a chance to take a close-up to help clean the coast up. They’ve hosted other events like the one happening tonight, and so far over ten thousand dollars has been raised.
For $40 donation, you can have your own Sp[oil]ed portrait taken. The event begins at 10 p.m. tonight. If you cannot make it this evening, have no fear, there will be plenty of other events.
On September 24 there will be a Sp[oil]ed gala in New Orleans at the Eiffel Society.
