Dr. Ed Overton has been on the front lines of the crisis on the coast, using data gathered in his lab to help organizations like NOAA and the Coast Guard.
That information has played a big role in clean up to long term recovery, and the lessons can help people here by this crisis, and in other parts of the world in future spills.
