Lt. Gov. says BP unprepared for tourism request
BATON ROUGE (WVLA) -- New studies shows that people from out-of-state are afraid to visit Louisiana. On Monday, September 20, NBC33 News brought you an interview with the Lieutenant Governor, Scott Angelle, who said the Crisis on the Coast coverage is to blame.
Angelle claims that tourism in the Bayou State is down and it’s up to BP to help bring the numbers back up. He’s asking BP to pay $75 million in additional funds for tourism campaigns and awareness.
Today Angelle met with representatives from BP, and he said that they were totally “unprepared” for the meeting. He says BP officials told him they had not read his letter requesting for the funds, and they had not reviewed any of the perception studies on Louisiana.
BP did promise to look everything over in the next few days, and promised to meet with Angelle again next week.
