Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Federal prosecutors are reportedly considering manslaughter charges against BP managers over decisions made before last year's Gulf of Mexico oil well explosion.
Bloomberg reports that investigators are reviewing statements made during Congressional testimony by the leaders of companies involved in the spill, including former BP CEO Tony Hayward.
Authorities want to know if that testimony was at odds with what executives actuallly knew.
The massive rig explosion last April killed 11 workers and led to a months-long battle to contain the biggest off-shore oil spill in American history.
Neither BP nor the Justice Department has commented on the case.
