PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La (WVLA) - Six months ago today - the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. That explosion led to the biggest oil spill ever recorded - and Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser says the fight is far from over.

Over 18 thousand gallons oil/water mix from Bay Jimmy have been collected in the last week alone.

Since the crisis started - over 200 millions of oil spilled into the Gulf.

Fisherman all along the coast are still stuggling, and enviromentalists say it could be years before we see the full effects of the spill.
