Zachary man busted with over 200 pounds of marijuana

Zachary, La — The Zachary Police Department made the biggest seizure of marijuana in the history of the department.
Officers were running radar on McHugh Rd at Carpenter Rd. Officer clocked a vehicle going 42 in a 30 mph. The suspect, Terrance Whiten, 23, turned the vehicle around and drove into a gated apartment complex.
An officer was able to stop the vehicle. When Whiten was asked for his registration and insurance, he walked back toward the vehicle, but kept walking past the vehicle in attempt to flee. The officer arrested the Whiten and smelled what appear to be marijuana on his person.
A K9 unit was deployed and gave a positive alert to the passenger side of the vehicle.
Officers open the driver's side door and observed 6 big garbage bags containing around 207 pounds of marijuana.
Officers also found a bottle of Prometh with Codeine and baby bottle containing a purple-syrup like substance, which they thought to be Codeine. They also seized $6,147 in cash.
Officers also seized over $16,000 in cash from Whiten’s residence.
Whiten was charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of Schedule V, Resisting arrest by Flight and Speeding.
